I ride hard and get about the same but the compound in CitiGrip2 runs about 1500mi further and would do well in the wet conditions you occasionally face.
Maybe for your rides a scooter with larger wheels would be better. See Piaggio Beverly with 16" front and 14" rear. My son and I have one.
