Nice! More kits to play with! Looks like the Quattrini 244 had a baby with the Malossi MKII...

Oh-boy
Hope they get them on the market soon since I think I could get one for the VR-One engine. The whole thing with basically only two real options for 200 cylinder has been quite disappointing. Let's hope this will fill the gap between Malossi and Q244 |

Knowing VMC with past Aprilla Engineer involved, I am sure they will deliver a state-of-the-art piston and CNC machined head that will be jaw dropping. . . at reasonable pricing.

Wonder what the bore size is, and whether that stumpy little spigot will fit a stock P2 engine case without machine work? I think 70mm bore is about as big as you can go with the stock case? With the displacement at 245 - 250cc, this must require at least 62mm stroke, probably 64mm, as there's only so much bore that is achievable with 60mm stroke.

At least if tried and not great an M244 will bolt on and be an M260. |

Just wondering about the rod lenght if it's the same as with regular cylinders.
Special-unicorn cranks are a turn-off for me.

I got this from the horse's mouth recently. It's based around the SIP 127 mm rod 60 stroke crank. The spiggot is 8mm deep but get this, the kit will come with a steel screw on template that will allow home builders to Dremil the casing with a reasonable degree of accuracy without the need for specialist machining. The exhaust stub will also be the right diameter and angle, plus the gasket surface overlap on the casings at the clutch side transfer is thicker. To me that sounds pretty good.

Would be surprised if case modifications were needed. This is not VMC's MO.
If they have done this, everyone will just buy the better made and already proven to be awesome Quattrini M244.

If VMC follow their own MO on pricing I wouldn't be surprised if this comes in around a similar price range as the Malossi 210 cylinder kit. If that's their target then things will get interesting. I'm speculating on the pricing bit of course but it's not entirely unrealistic, I've put my next 221 on pause just in case. |

SteveH wrote: Yeah it sounds messy initially, but after matching the transfers there's not a hell of a lot of material to remove for the 8mm deep thin-walled spiggot anyway, so personally I wouldn't be swayed by the triviality of having to extend my Dremil work by a few minutes.
