Agreed. Yeah, it's got a bit of mileage, but it's like new compared to some of Leuthold's bikes. And we know you just rode it only to the donut shop on sunny days. I think it should give the buyer more than their money's worth of enjoyment.

Maybe tape a baggie with a couple of donuts to get more attention?

Mopeds over here legally needed pedals in the past. But that pedal rule is long gone. Now it is 50cc or less, max speed of 45km/h.
Most mopeds you see over here, by very far the large majority, are 50cc scooters.

Indeed, another benefit in your advantage of confusing moped scooters with motorcycle scooters.

Same rule over here. Moped scooters have a number plate starting with "S" while motorcycle scooters have one starting with "M".

The first bicycles did not have pedals. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_bicycle
Bicycle simply means 2 wheels.

In Northern Nevada (the New Northern California dontcha know) where it is illegal to filter or lane split on a motorcycle something registered as a "Moped" that is under 50cc and under a certain horsepower/top speed it is perfectly legal to ride in the bike lane on the side of the road.

In other words if you have one of those plates that visibly says "moped" on the back of your scoot you can legally lane split and filter here!

I recently bought a theft recovery Piaggio Liberty 150 with every intention of swapping the motor with a "moped" registered and plated Liberty 50 for the express purpose of doing just that. When I am making the afternoon run to the grocery store for a forgotten ingredient for the gourmet dinner I am preparing and traffic is all screwed up I can just zoom along in the bike lane up to the front at any light.

Nevada has some really stupid vehicle regulations that feel very much like they were enacted on purpose to thwart new immigrants to the state from other states chiefly California. For example there are fines in the thousands of dollars if you move here and fail to register your vehicle within 30 days to Nevada. The DMV is severely underfunded and therefore understaffed and has to be the worst in the nation. If you thought the California DMV system was bad you really need to visit Reno and truly experience hell on earth. They have several armed guards on duty for each shift and as soon as someone raises their voice over the incredible stupidity of the Nevada DMV they are escorted from the premises. Reminds me of a Seinfeld episode, no soup for you and out you go.

Anyway while some of you may take offense at your vehicle being referred to as a moped I am actively seeking official legal status for my vehicle as such and looking forward to proudly displaying the word "Moped" on the back of mine!

Years back, I had a Motobecane moped, along with various Honda motorcycles. I really enjoyed the moped, as it was very well built, and I could cruise around the area at low speeds and enjoy the scenery, similar to what I do with my new Primavera 150 S. Of course, the Primavera can go a LOT faster if I want it to.

I was standing next to my friend's GTS 300 while he rode my Primavera 150 around the block. A few people walked by (adults presumably) and one of them said, "nice moped". I just cringed and said, "thanks".

Is it a generational thing? I'm 51. I remember the actual mopeds. Little bicycle frames, tiny 2-stroke engines, and bicycle PEDALS. They were bicycles that you could fire up the engine when you got tired or needed to go far and fast without being Lance Armstrong.

The term "scooter" has been muddied all to heck too. And it's worse if you are referring to a motor-scooter with an electric motor, a la Piaggio 1 Active or one of the NIU scooters. I had to have the most fingernail pulling conversation with the Virginia DMV, just to try to get a straight answer for a simple question (I still haven't gotten an authoritative answer). You can't call the individual offices here. You can only call a 800 number to talk to Richmond.

"Does one have to have a motorcycle license to ride a Piaggio 1 Active?"

She first thought I was talking about the electric kick scooters that are everywhere, multiplying like bacteria. Then she thought I was talking about a mobility scooter, think Rascal. This woman works at the Department of Motor Vehicles. It is literally her job to know the correct terminology and the answers to simple questions like this. Yet, ,she is just as clueless as the general population.

The official classification here in the Commonwealth of Virginia is that the 50cc class scooters are "mopeds" and do not need a motorcycle license to ride. Anything bigger is classified as a motorcycle.

I personally look back at the original 1946 patent for the Vespa which states:
"A Motorcycle with a rational arrangement of organs and elements with a frame with mudguards and covers concealing all mechanical parts."

I call it (Primavera 150) a "motorcycle". If I have to tag it like a motorcycle, insure it like a motorcycle, and I have to have a motorcycle endorsement on my license, then it's a bleeping motorcycle!

I was just saying that the other day. The only difference is that they swapped the gasoline engine for an electric motor.

Interestingly though, they are becoming more and more like small electric motorcycles. They are getting more powerful and people are peddling them first. It's sort of like the same evolution of the motorcycle: start with a bicycle, add a motor, eventually remove the pedals. People are treating them like motorcycle endorsement free electric motorcycles. Just watch them on the road.

I was in New Orleans a long time ago and my friend there noticed some guy he knew heading into a crummy little bar on some little side street with a woman.

"Ha! Look at that! J. P. is mopedding tonight!" he said.

I must have looked confused because he immediately explained that "mopedding" was when you went out with someone you didn't want to be seen with so you avoided your usual cool, conspicuous spots, the same way you would take back streets and alleys if you were on an embarrassing little moped instead of your big shiny Harley.
