Does there need to be a sticky (to ignore) with the 'rules' or 'guidelines?' or should each game set their own (like when it snows you can use miniatures and toy versions to play along for example)

Thoughts/Input?

I think it's a good idea to have at least a description and some guidelines about what scooter tag is. Then, people who don't know what it is have a quick place to read about it. Locally, the taggers could amend the rules/concept as they see fit. 8)

Probably a good idea for newbies like me.

Scooter Tag: Suggested Guidelines - not rules.

1: The boundaries are set by the person starting the game. The boundaries can be modified upon agreement by those participating. Watching a game happen and complaining about how far away it is probably means you should start your own game or see Suggested Guideline 9.

2: To start, instigator posts a photo of their scooter with a landmark, sign, etc. Clues may be given along with the photo- remember that not everyone is as smart as you are, this is supposed to be fun, not frustrating.

3: Other participants ride to the same place and get a photo with THEIR scooter at the same/similar spot. Some areas may open their game to other two/three wheeled vehicles. Ask before assuming your Harley or Schwinn will be allowed. Be sure that a powered vehicle rider won't get arrested getting to a site tagged on a bicycle.

4: Must be life size functional version. Scooter in the back of a truck = fail. Scale model in your pocket = fail. Search for Fake/Historic Scooter Tag if you still play with toys in your moms basement.

5: The first person to "tag" the photo by posting their photo with their bike gets to post the next photo for people to find. A tag that does not match close enough in the OP's opinion should go to vote amongst the other active participants (not the MV Mods - they're busy enough than you very much.) Does not apply to Suggested Guideline 9.

6: The time between posts is decided amongst the active participants. If you and local scooteristas hibernate, OK. Those in active areas don't whine if you can only scoot after 3PM on every 4th Sunday.

7: If no one is able to identify the tag, the OP can give progressively easier clues until someone finally says "AHA!" including the direct street address of a non-residential location and directions to the tag until after someone else has tagged it OR until the OP is tired of waiting and posts another tag, in which case OP may want to see Suggested Guideline #9.

8: There is no Suggested Guideline #8, and is reserved for future use.

9: Yes you can play with yourself. However, in self gratification games, you need to have a second like vehicle bike and scooter = OK, scooter and Harley = OK, scooter and car = fail. Suggested Guideline 2 does not apply to those playing with themselves.

10: Images should be posted on an external photo server like Photobucket, Picasa, or Flickr. They should also be resized so that those players in caves with dial-up interwebs can see the images on their Commodore 64/128, if they use the one-hour photo place and have a scanner.

11: Any game with more than 11 Suggested Guidelines sucks and is too hard.

Put on some miles - you don't need to do that much group riding....It's an unlimited mileage warranty. Get over it.

Maybe it's just me, but this sounds more like HORSE than tag, but it's all good. Looks like fun.

Oh, and yes, this should be a sticky.
