Nice designs. Now who's willing to put out the initial costs and sell them?
If everyone say which one they like and give a head count of about how many peeps are interested, I will do it (unless someone else - more experienced - pipes up). I won't be able to get started until late May at the earliest, so that should give everyone time to voice their opinion.

Check with ModernSuede.com to get a quote.

I do the SPAZ patches thru there, and I usually will take pre-orders to try and cover half of the upfront costs, then cover the rest myself and get it back when ordered.

Also check with Scootmoto.com, he will probably want to buy a small batch while will help offset the costs too.

Could also advertise orders on some of the other scooter forums to help.

One thing to note, I am not sure how much of your skyline will be doable with stitching. It's a bit too much detail for that small of an area. Otherwise, the design is very nice and to the point! Patch design is a pain to get right and you done it right fosho :D

I've designed for embroidery before, and I would assume that this would replicate pretty well. I wouldn't be worried about the tiniest of details being exact, since most of the landmarks are pretty recognizable as is. What I could do, if needed, is enlarge some of them, while leaving others off completely. No big deal either way.

Thanks for the props.

I think that is part of the fun in matching patches. Seeing your design go from ideas to a real actually patch and all the tweaking and such in between! :D

It will turn out nice I think. And like you said, you can do some adjusting if needed. But you never know, it may turn out great right off.

just tossing some input from my patch making. :)

OT: I love the SPAZ stuff, did you do it? Great look! I'm a freak about zombies, as evidenced by my FB status today: "Joel, if he were a zombie, would be feasting on some brains right now. Lucky for you, he's just Joel, and he's going to snack on a handful of peanuts. Lucky for you, indeed."

I didn't create the original art, that was more of a community effort fronted by one of the members on MB. I just kind of took the reigns to get it turned into patches and such. And then did this years SPAZ 09 patch design.

I like the idea that someone new does the design each year, keeping within the rules of course. We have certain colors and things that have to be on the patch, then freedom to play a bit. It's the community's yea/nah that is where it's difficult. So many opinions, you have to learn to pick the ones that are useful and let everyone have their say and then decide.

Then you have to either front the cash, or take preorders to help cover it. I fronted for the first run of last years, then decided to get help via preorders for the next batch and this new run for 09.

Not to confuse matters more, but this would be represnted well (better even) in a decal rather than patch.

My opinion as well. I like it as a decal and I like SIC's as a patch! That is my vote.

Cost.
Thanks Steve.

Fiasco; I would look into the cost for a specialty patch with a design like that. The company's usually want to know if it will be 50%, 75% or 100% embroidered patch. Then what type of backing. Then they will also charge by the amount of stitches that will be required for your patch. Just food for thought......

My design ranged from $1.30 to $3.00 based on those factors above. Shape was using a standard 3 x 4 inch rectangle. They also wanted 100 min. some would do 50 but wanted more per unit price.

If it makes production I'll order one in a heartbeat, decal and/or patch.

@ Fiasco: I like the way you managed to incorporate so many distinguishing features from around the world.

When my scoot is up and running again, I'm going to try to make scootertag happen in Holland.

We didn't drop this idea, did we? CUZ I like it!

I really like SIC's design. Simple and classy.

I also like the idea of a decal over a patch. I personally will put the decal on a magnetic sheet and make it a magnet.

We would definitely need to agree on one design, that way it is INSTANTLY recognizable to all members on the road.

I got a quote on them the other day and haven't got around to posting it yet. I'd need to know how many people are interested as prices range from $2.75 to $10.00 (not including s&h from here to you) depending on quantity. Probably I'll need to do a poll -- later today at the earliest. And, I might want to get a second quote, too.

Just curious what the latest was on the patches? Has there been any thought about a possible decal also?

It would be cool to be able to wear to Amerivespa!

I think I'd want to do the patches first and see how that went before I got into a decal thing. It seems like I'm going to be fronting a bit of money to get them done and I don't want to get in too deep initially, if you know what I mean. Perhaps if I hurry I can get them done in time for Amerivespa...? But, it depends on making a decision on the actual patch selection soon!

I think I'd want to do the patches first and see how that went before I got into a decal thing. It seems like I'm going to be fronting a bit of money to get them done and I don't want to get in too deep initially, if you know what I mean. Perhaps if I hurry I can get them done in time for Amerivespa...? But, it depends on making a decision on the actual patch selection soon!
do you have papal? I'd be willing to be an early "investor"

I don't have paypal, but I'm going to get it to get the patch payments the easiest way possible.

I would never use a patch, but would love a decal of SIC's design!

we could work with some of the decal sites to design and sell back to scooter tag decals.

That way we/us/you are not out of pocket anything?

Those websites make decals - aka - vinyl cutouts (I used to make signs so I'm very familiar with their products). What we'd want is a "sticker" with printing on it. Didn't look like either of them did that.

Update on patch ordering:

I'm in the final stages of ordering the patches and am not yet sure what the turn around time will be. Due to my un-familiarity with doing PayPal and/or advance orders, I'm going to buy them all myself and then, when I've gotten them, I will put up a photo of the patch and take orders.

From what I've been able to calculate, it will be around $5.00 a patch, including, S&H and fees from PayPal. If someone ordered more than one, it could be a bit less, but it remains to be seen how much (S&H would be slightly less, I'd assume).

I'm ordering 100 (to lower the price - otherwise it would probably be $7+ per) and they will be 100% stitching. Also going to try to contact a few dealers to see if they might be interested in buying a small quantity.

I think it's going to look GREAT and I'm really excited. Hope y'all are, too!

I've also put in for a quote for stickers, but I want to see how the patch thing goes first, before I get too far into that.

Thanks pudNrider! I know it takes time to do all this and money so I really appreciate you doing this. Can't wait! I'll contact our Tag players here in town when they're done so they can all purchase one.

Hopefully, within a few weeks. Not sure yet what the turnaround will be after they make the first one.
