I'm really torn between these two bikes... at about the same price, I'm definitely getting more power output with the SC250.

When I go down the differences and overall build quality, I've really gotta hand it to Honda. Holy crap is that a nice sexy ass bike! So this is what I've come up with

Aprilia SC250

Pros :

* Significant increase in power at top speeds of over 80mph
* The seat appears to be more comfortable

Cons :

* This vehicle will be used, I will have to purchase a separate warranty
* Accessory market is not nearly as large
* Unsure of resale value.

Honda PCX150

Pros :

* Look at this fricken thing!!
* The instrument panel is gorgeous
* Huge 25gal underseat storage
* The motor on this bike purrs in comparison
* 102 mpg

Cons:

* That hump in the seat may cause an issue with a passenger
* Bike will top out at somewhere between 62-65mph
* I almost don't WANT to add a top case fearing what it might look like! lol

My primary driving will consist of 35mph to 60mph terrain as I live in the Clearwater Beach area. Long distance travel around here almost always has 55-60mph "back" roads.

according to a report on a Honda PCX forum, when you travel at WOT your fuel consumption will drop below 80mpg...

The riding experience/position is totally different on both of these bikes, the pcx feels more like a sporty motorcycle vs the aprilla which will be more like your kymco. You won't go wrong with either. You need to try both, that is all I can say.

I don't think you'll get over 80mph on the 250. Not without a very long run up, a downhill gradient, and a tailwind.

And the PCX definitely doesn't have 25 gallons storage capacity. Not even measured in US gallons.

If you want to ride at 55-60mph, as you say, and you don't want it to take all day to actually get to 60, then a 125 probably isn't for you, imho. Of the 125s on the market, I don't think the PCX is regarded as particularly fast. I thought it was tuned for economy rather than speed/acceleration.

Honda Pcx for sure!!!
I just bought a Honda PCX 150 about 4 months ago.. I can not say enough about it.. It is the greatest little back roads and comuter scooter I have ever ridden.. It gets 100 MPG and I have had the first service done. 700 miles and it still is quiet and runs just as you would expect a Honda would. Get to 60 no problem. It is so fast off the line that I am always leaving the rest of the cars in the rear veiw mirror... Well that is my 2 cents...

^Ditto to a lot of what you said. I love my "125" and getting up to 60...."a piece of cake" (old expression, I know but it still flys)
What an appropriate thread for me to hit 3000, I'm happy!
Good luck picking between the two wolf, go with what suits you best.
Desire plays a role, the PCX is sexy 8) imo

I took the bike out on the highway and got a GPS verified 62.9 mph at full throttle.

Average wind, no hills. This bike is definitely more than just a typical 150cc!

Fuelly posts
I'm going to be back in the market for another bike again soon and the pcx150 looks interesting to me, as well. Will you be doing an mpg log? If so, would you mind letting us know what you wind up getting around town, mostly high speed cruising and mostly wot highway riding? Would like to hear from a brand spanking new owner. Thanks.

Cool. Glad you like it.

(Just to be clear, my earlier post wasn't saying that a PCX 125 {we don't have 150s over here. Your OP was talking about a 125, but it appears you've got a 150 version} wouldn't get to 60mph....I was saying that a stock 125 scooter - any stock 125 scooter - will take some time to get to 60mph. As you say, you got a PCX 150 up to 63mph at full throttle..)

These both are great bikes. But I like Honda PCX 150. Honda PCX 150 is a premium maxi scooter. The Honda PCX 150 has been made powerful with 152 cc liquid cooled-fuel injected four stroke engine. These premium features would mean that the Honda PCX 150 would definitely be priced quite high too.

You will get more than 80mph on the Sports City. I rode my son's from California to Texas last month and discovered that the rev limiter kicked in at 92mph indicated on I-40 east of Flagstaff. His speedo is 4-5mph fast so that's a real 86-88mph. That was not downhill or at sea level. It accelerates faster than my GTS with the same engine until about 70 then slows but continues to increase. Steep or really long grades with heavier riders can make it hard to maintain more than 70mph but it actually performs quite well. Personally I prefer the ergonomics of the GTS over the Sports City but my son loves his and it is my husband's second favorite of all the scoots we've owned (his fav was the Vespa ET 4 150 which he loved for its quiet engine and in-town handling.)

However, if you love the PCX then you may not be happy with the Sports City. We don't like the ergonomics of the maxi body style scoots but reports on the PCX are that it is a good reliable scoot.

Do the Sports Citys now have a digital speedo? I assume that must be the case, since you say you saw "an indicated 92mph".

If I saw an indicated 92 on my digital speedo, then I'd assume something more like a 10% error (in my experience of comparing speedo to GPS readings - and I accept that gps itself isn't really absolutely accurate most of the time - the error becomes larger the faster you travel. I'd always think of speedos as being [x]% out, rather than [x] mph out), which would mean a touch over 80mph.

So YES, if you wring its neck, it is just about possible that a stock 250 scoot can just about go the tiniest amount over 80mph. Although the concensus view from reviewers, rather than owners, is that the Sportcity has a top speed of either 80, or 79mph. Funny how owners always exaggerate speeds, isn't it. Did I tell you about the time I broke the sound barrier on my X9?

Anyway, I'm glad the OP is enjoying his new PCX.

Definitely enjoying it... I originally requested a red PCX150 and they didn't have one.

I was a little disappointed so he offered me a cover for the bike and a huge thing of wax free! I originally declined the offer and went home, only to realize that I would be perfectly happy with the black one too!

I did realize pretty quick though that you can't haggle too much on a new Honda... lol

Not sure where the confusion was, my OP most certainly says PCX150 as well as the title of the thread :p

92 is from analog approx. but I have GPS 88 on my BV riding with my husband riding the Sports City on I-15 between Los Vegas and San Diego when we rode the bikes out for my son to use it at university.

So excited! I got approved for a loan under my name only AND I got approval for a credit card $1,500.

Honda turned me down originally... and I've had a lot of problems finding places that will approve me for a loan on much of anything because of some bad history.

My girlfriend wanted one and she wasn't able to get a 2nd loan from Honda, so I decided to try to get a loan at a credit union (GROW FCU)!

So excited that I can finally put some good marks on my credit report!

For those interested, I was able to drive from St. Petersburg, FL to Lakeland, FL in about an hour (55 miles one way). Taking the expressway for about 15 miles, I hit speeds between 60 and 65 two up. I achieved 80MPG and was near full throttle for 90% of the tank!

The bike drove super smooth and you can definitely feel the difference when coming from a Kymco
