"A good problem to have"... At least that's what my scooter friends tell me. I will likely have to let one of these go pretty soon.

New phone, not sure why my pic is sideways.

And it's not weather right, the back side has some planks that have fallen off, breezy. Still have not brought the scoot down yet, still at the neighbors house.

This is the garage of the house I bought when I was 25. The aesthetic choices reflect my age at the time. Life was very exciting back then lol.
Random animals everywhere were from the previous owner... Asphalt in bad condition... Whole thing was pretty run down. One garage door wouldn't even open so I replaced them both.
It had a pit in it for car maintenance and storing winter/spring tires. That's a '79 Vespa 100.
When I added the fireplace this become the height of luxury in my 25 year old mind.
How the outside looked before I sold it to get my current place.

As I might've mentioned in a (much-) earlier thread, the garage that came with our house was unattached (middle of back yard), likely built later (house was built around 1928), and in such poor condition we had to pay to have it demolished, leaving us with just a driveway, which was in equally bad shape. We fixed the driveway (pavers, which was rather $$$), and, last year, I came up with the idea of a retractable awning for keeping Melody at least somewhat protected from the elements (together with a heavy-duty Dowco scoot cover). Sadly, Mel didn't get much of a chance to enjoy this, but Thelonica is doing fine with her digs.
Thelonica today, in "full dress." (Details a little later.)

I enjoy this old thread. I'm always scanning the photos for storage/organization ideas.

So far, I've posted photos of two garages. Today I started packing garage #2 as we are moving again. I have a tendency to hang a lot on the walls which means a lot to work to take it down, patch any holes, and paint. I don't want to leave the buyers of our home with a big mess.

Just barely started. I think packing up the garage may be almost as much work as the rest of the house.

How considerate of you. I think many people would leave the new owners to make good the holes and painting.

I only have a tiny garage, so utilising wall space is a priority. It's also situated 50 yards away from the house so I am unable to have heating or lighting

I can't wait to see your new set-up.

My messy cluttered garage, an unedited, un-staged mess.
I need to practice being minimalists; in a small garage somehow managed two cars and two scooters but the bicycles had to be moved elsewhere.
The next picture of my garage will not look like this!

For those sweet garages with the fancy epoxy flooring, has anyone DIY-it?

I've read that it's not too difficult and a substantial savings over having it done professionally.

I've done three garages with epoxy with good results. One was so smooth I put saw dust on the floor so I could rotate the car I was restoring by hand. The prep work is the main task to assure adhesion.

I considered it when I refurbished my garage, but found it too costly. As an alternative I bought reconstituted rubber floor matting like you would find on a gym floor. Its 10mm thick, hard wearing and easy on the knees when I'm wrenching on the Vespa.

For those sweet garages with the fancy epoxy flooring, has anyone DIY-it?

I've read that it's not too difficult and a substantial savings over having it done professionally.
I've always had mine done professionally. I was in the first garage 15 years and never had any peeling of the epoxy. The second garage, I've been in for 6 years. Also, no peeling. The problem w/ DIY is that it's difficult to purchase the same paint used by the pros. When I got my first garage done, the two part epoxy paints were not available for purchase by the general public. I think you can buy them today, but it's hard to imagine how BAD the fumes are. I was around when the floor of my current garage was epoxy coated and the fumes were unbearable (eyes watering/burning, etc). The guy who did the floor wore a full face respirator.

I have one friend who DIY-ed his garage floor. Within a couple years it was bubbling and peeling in many places. What a mess. He had to have the floor sand blasted before he had it redone professionally. Ended up being a LOT more costly.

I got a quote for getting the garage floor epoxy coated at my new house last week. It's right around $5/sqft. Expensive, but SO worth it in my opinion.

Good call on the fumes and the longevity of the DIY option. According to the Googles, $5sf is right in the middle of the range. Seems like a game changer in transforming the garage into an extension of the house.

The old garage had way more character, with all the original wood exposed and plants from outside growing through the gaps in the planks... the new garage has way less soul, but it's starting to be less vanilla and develop some character of it's own, bit by bit.

Mine is a little over sized - 40 x 90 feet. It was a trotter horse barn in its previous life.

One thing I have learned, "stuff" is like a gas. It will expand to fill the available space.

Touring,

They were in the room behind the first door on the left…

Brought them out for "proof of life"…

Just installed a Wall Control system to replace some worn out particle pegboard. It's been on the to-do list for ages.

Now the fun part of deciding what tools and bits get displayed.

I only wish I had purchased two sets of the panels.
